Happy New Year to you! It's our first Chinese New Year together as a married couple and do you know what that means? As Dean's younger brother James has so aptly reminded us, it's time to start giving out "lai see" (aka "hong bao" or red envelopes).
I'm not a big fan of the red-colored envelopes that are usually used to give out lai see. We'll be giving out our lai see in these golden envelopes I picked up the other day from T.S. Emporium in Rowland Heights. I love the subtle gold shimmer in the background and the raised gold foil Chinese characters.

i found these nice red envelopes in hk. i can give you some. they're smaller size, a deeper red, with little embossed "fook" all over, and a big fook in gold/red in the middle.
